We were asked to create an interactive film, and interactive film is that the audience is able to interact with, when I say this I mean there are multiple scenarios and endings to each interactive video and the audience is able to choose how it ends. In the lessons we have been preparing for the final interactive film by doing research into other interactive films, for example, the research I conducted was on a YouTube clip called the chase , In this you able to choose which way to go to escape the people chasing you. I based my interactive film on this clip in a similar scenario. We also had to create a group branch chart of our first scene that would lead off to our own branches that we would direct for example Our first scene starts at Lidl’s bus stop and then there are three options on which way to go left right straightahead my direction was left and this led to different scenarios throughout the branch. We also did a test run, in which we became Familia with the software we would be using for the main interactive film. We had to do preproduction paperwork which include; Script, casting crew list, location list, cast and talent list, proper list, health and safety riskassessment, contact list, shooting script, location plan, Contingency plan, released forms for talent, call sheet, costume list, equipment release form, Production schedule, storyboard. We also had to make a presentation of our interactive film idea and present it, in this we had to explain our idea, where we were going to do it, Demonstrate techniques we wanted to use, we also had to put a sample of our website we have created for the interactive film into this presentation and talk about that.
The brief has been extremely helpful throughout this process because I have been able to look at information in the unit and see what I would have to put into the tasks. It also helped me as it was very detailed if I was confused about anything I could go to the assignment brief and it would make more sense to me.
To create an interactive film has helped me to understand The genres better as we picked apart the film to make sure that it was the way we wanted it to come across to the audience. For example I was younger was psychological horror/thriller so we had to find a way to make it seem like it was in this genre section. We added a scary background music to play throughout the interactive film this was to create a atmosphere If we were doing another drama like romance for example, we would’ve used a more soothing and calm background music. We had to do voice-overs for the beginning scene so we made the voices appropriate for this genre such as Annie victim had a scared/worried tone to her voice because she got a message from someone she doesn’t know saying she will be his. Daniel on the other hand was the stalker so his tone of voice had more of a deep, dark and gloomy tone to it as he was in trying to be creepy and to scare Annie. This really helped to show that our interactive film was in the horror/thriller genre whereas if the voices were different they may have been associated with another genre.
Creating a test interactive film has helped me understand genres better because we went into detail was making the film that you wouldn’t notice what watching but if it wasn’t there it wouldn’t seem right for example background music, our interactive example was In the crime genre it was called the water bottle three and it was about a group of people and one person is dead to steal something from the cafe. There were many options throughout this example interactive film such as to help the person still something or to turn in. In the practice run there was a script on what had to be said if the actors were to speak or act in a different way the genre of this film could’ve been considered different.
I researched three techniques for filming different shots, to make The interactive more interesting, however I only ended up using two of the techniques in the actual interactive video, so here they are:
Panning
This technique can also be done on a tripod you can use this technique to follow a moving object such as, a moving car or a person running/walking. For example, in our film we have people running in it so we wold use a panning movement to follow our subject. The way you do this is pretty simple all you have to do is put the camera on the tripod chose the hight you want the camera to be at and use the handle of the triple move the camera side to side following the subject. This will be useful in my production as we have people constantly moving and instead of following them the whole time making Interactive film boring if we had this camera shot somewhere in it, it would have a good effect to the scene.
Low Angle
This is a good technique if u want to make a character or subject look bigger and more dominate. By have a low angle in our film it will make our stalker seem more intimidating and dangerous to the audience. You can crate this with a tripod or using a hand held technique to get an even lower angle. so the first thing you do is to put the camera on the tripod (if you are using one), then find the hight you want it to be at and tilt it upwards so that the subject is in frame. This would also be really useful as like the first technique this camera shot can also make Danny look more dominant and more of a scary character in our interactive film. However you can also use the same technique from a high angle to make a character look weaker and more timidWe could use this high angle in our production to make Annie seem like more of an easy target for the stalker.
This is the third camera technique that I researched into but was not able to Inc corporate‘s:
Tilted Pan
This is when you use a tripod to scale up or down a subject during the attention to different pats of the subject as you do it. For example, if i had a person i was introducing to a program and i wanted to build tension i would use a upward pan so that at you see more of the body you can try figure out who it is. You can create an upwards tilted pan, by starting the tripod tilted to the ground you can start filing the feet and slowly go up the body and viser verser. I would use a downward pan if i was scaling a build to meet a subject at the bottom of it. This would be useful in my production if I were to create a more dominating factor to a character for example if Danny was standing in a normal frame shot he would seem less dominating, whereas ifThis camera shot was used it would be like a slow reveal to find out Who is under his mask.
I also researched into two editing techniques that are used in my interactive segment of the film:
You could also use slow motion in your edit to create more very scary atmosphere to the scene and to create more tension. We could use this in our film when Annie turns around to see stalker on the stairs above her as this Will make this scene more intense, because it’s as if he’s almost captured her and time is running out.

Editing techniques
The first technique Is The fade edit, thisIs done at the point where one clip ends and another clip begins, you will be able to add an affect to this Section so that instead of sharply cutting from one clip to another it adds a nice faded effect this would be useful in our Interactive film where the screen recording of the text messages sent back and forth from Annie and Danny finish and where the clip of her running away starts this week at the affect of fadingFrom digital reality to normal reality.
